Laser resurfacing is a treatment to reduce facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, such as blemishes or acne scars.

The technique directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin, precisely removing skin layer by layer. This popular procedure is also called lasabrasion, laser peel, or laser vaporization.

If you have fine lines or wrinkles around your eyes or mouth or on your forehead, shallow scars from acne, or non-responsive skin after a facelift, then you may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing.

Also if you have active acne or if you have very dark skin, you may not be a candidate. This technique is also not recommended for stretch marks. You should discuss whether laser resurfacing is right for you by consulting with the doctor before having the procedure done.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

The two types of lasers most commonly used in laser resurfacing are carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium. Each laser vaporizes skin cells damaged at the surface-level.

- CO2 Laser Resurfacing

This method has been used for years to treat different skin issues, including wrinkles, scars, warts, enlarged oil glands on the nose, and other conditions.

The newest version of CO2 laser resurfacing uses very short pulsed light energy (known as ultrapulse) or continuous light beams that are delivered in a scanning pattern to remove thin layers of skin with minimal heat damage. Recovery takes up to two weeks.

- Erbium Laser Resurfacing

Erbium laser resurfacing is designed to remove surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, or chest. One of the benefits of erbium laser resurfacing is minimal burning of surrounding tissue. This laser causes fewer side effects -- such as swelling, bruising, and redness -- so your recovery time should be faster than with CO2 laser resurfacing. In some cases, recovery may only take one week Ask your doctor how long recovery is likely to take for you.

If you have a darker skin tone, erbium laser resurfacing may work better for you.

- Nonablative Laser Resurfacing

This is a non-wounding laser, which stimulates collagen growth and tightens underlying skin. This includes many types of lasers as well as intense pulsed light (IPL) devices.

Another type of laser resurfacing, Fractional Photo Thermolysis (Fraxel), is also available in ablative and non-ablative forms.

Although non-ablative laser resurfacing is less invasive and requires less recovery time, it's less effective than is ablative laser resurfacing.

How is it Done?

Generally, laser resurfacing is an outpatient procedure, meaning there is no overnight stay.

The doctor may treat individual wrinkles around your eyes, mouth, or forehead or treat your entire face. For small areas, the doctor will numb the areas to be treated with a local anesthetic. The doctor may also sedate you. You may get general anesthesia if your whole face is being treated.

If the doctor is just treating parts of your face, the procedure will take about 30 to 45 minutes. A full-face treatment takes up to two hours.

Following the laser procedure, the doctor will bandage the treated area. Starting 24 hours after treatment, you will need to clean the treated area four to five times a day. Then you'll need to apply an ointment, such as petroleum jelly, to prevent scabs from forming. This wound care is intended to prevent any scab formation. In general, the areas heal in 10 to 21 days, depending on the condition that was treated.

Once the treated areas have healed, you can wear makeup and carry on with your daily regime after laser skin resurfacing.

Laser Skin Resurfacing at Aesthetica

Aesthetica Skin Resurfacing is the most powerful and effective form of anti-ageing laser treatment to remove unwanted brown spots, acne and surgical scars. This service uses laser technology along with a skin-cooling device, to prevent any damage to your skin. It stimulates rapid healing for the outer layers of your skin and penetrates deep into the dermis, to give you new collagen naturally for a more youthful appearance.

Aesthetica Skin Resurfacing technology delivers Laser Light as an array of microbeams to the deeper layer of skin leaving the outer skin unaffected. The light reaches in fractions and starts a natural healing process that forms new healthy tissues and thus works on wrinkles and fine lines. The procedure has proven to give excellent visible results in 3 to 4 sessions. Since it is non-ablative, the healing is quick with no lasting redness or marks.

With a combination of peels, Aesthetica Skin Resurfacing can deliver up to 90%, leaving you with smooth, youthful skin. The internal improvement starts right from the first session and continues for months long after your last session.

This technology also gives excellent results for all types of scars and masks. It can be given on most areas of the body including face, chest, arms and hands.

Photo rejuvenation is a skin treatment that uses lasers, intense pulsed light, or photodynamic therapy to treat skin conditions and remove effects of photo aging such as wrinkles, spots, and textures. The process induces controlled wounds on the skin, prompting it to heal itself by creating new cells. This process reverses the signs of photo aging to a certain extent by removing appearances of damage.

Does your skin look older and a little bit more tired every time you look in the mirror? Are the effects of the sun taking their toll? Most of us, at one point or another, have thought about putting a stop to – or at least slowing down – the ageing process and its effect upon our skin. Well, now you can.

Every day, we not only have to contend with the natural ageing process, but also the harsh environmental factors that impact upon our skin.

Laser photo skin therapy can improve the signs of photo aging and rosacea, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, telangiectasias and irregular pigmentation – resulting in younger and more youthful skin. The benefits are consistent, with visible improvement in the skin as well as minimal discomfort and recovery time.

Photo rejuvenation is simply sophisticated beauty that is rediscovered in you.

How is it Done?

Carried out in our rejuvenation clinics, this laser pigmentation removal procedure uses advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to deliver controlled light directly to the skin, targeting areas that contain excess melanin (age spots, freckles and pigmentation). The light is then absorbed by the skin, in particular the pigmented areas of the skin. This light then converts to heat, which damages the targeted cells whilst leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. Once the light is absorbed into the pigment, the body begins to naturally break this down and eliminate it, revealing fresh, rejuvenated skin that is clearer and more even in tone and texture. You’ll also notice that pigmented areas such as freckles and age spots appear much lighter, and after a few more treatments will continue to fade and eventually disappear.

Photo Rejuvenation can also be used to heat up the dermis and stimulate collagen production, improving skin texture, firmness, pore size and fine lines, and increasing cellular turnover.

For the best possible results, we recommend one to three treatments, but more may be required depending on the depth of pigmentation and damage on the skin. Improvement may be visible after the first session. Optimal results will be achieved with commitment to sunscreen use and avoidance of future sun exposure. Your next session may be performed after four weeks, as long as healing from your previous session is complete. The average session takes approximately thirty minutes, but can vary depending on the area being treated.

When treating pigmented areas such as freckles and sun spots, the area will darken and generally fall off within seven to twenty-eight days (depending on the area of the body), or it will gradually fade.

Concerns such as broken capillaries and rosacea will lighten and eventually fade, and in some capillary cases they will collapse completely.

Because Photo Rejuvenation encourages collagen production which provides hydration, fine lines and wrinkles will take on a softer and smoother appearance, creating a more youthful, fresh appearance.

Microdermabrasion is treatment which removes the outer layer of dry and dead skin in a non-chemical and non-invasive procedure with the use of microcrystal sprays. This treatment reveals the younger and healthy looking skin beneath once all the dead skin has been removed. The Microdermabrasion treatment further improves the appearance of your skin by stimulating the production of new underlying skin. The Microdermabrasion treatment is very gentle on the skin.

The Benefits of Microdermabrasion are most effective in candidates with wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, age spots etc. The benefits of microdermabrasion can also be effective in those patients who suffer from rosacea and acne.

The Microdermabrasion treatment can eliminate lighter scars caused due to acne to a great extent. Candidates suffering from active can also avail this treatment, as microdermabrasion can exfoliate your skin and clear out clogged skin pores.

Women who are pregnant are not good candidates for this treatment. Those who have had chemical peels or other forms of skin treatment such as collagen injections should wait at least 2 -3 weeks before undergoing the microdermabrasion treatment. The prospective candidates for this treatment should keep in mind to avoid waxing or tanning a few weeks before the treatment.

Microdermabrasion can –

  1. -Improve age spots and black heads

  2. -Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin)

  3. -Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance

  4. -Lessen the appearance of stretch marks

  5. -Reduce fine lines and wrinkles

  6. -Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores

  7. -Treat acne and the scars left by acne

How is it Done?

During the treatment of microdermabrasion, a hand piece which is held against your skin is used to direct a stream of tiny aluminum oxide crystals. The microdermabrasion system creates a mild suction which removes the skin debris and exfoliates the skin. Multiple treatments of microdermabrasion help to produce thicker and healthier skin which contains higher levels of collagen and elastin. Both collagen and elastin are essential for healthy skin, it improves your complexion and overall appearance. To experience the optimum benefits of microdermabrasion at least 5-12 treatments have to be spaced out over 2-3 weeks.

A gel cleanser will be used to ensure that your skin is clean and dry before the treatment commences. For male clients, ideally your face should be clean shaved the night before a treatment (this is not essential). Dry, shaven and clean skin means that the abrasive compound can penetrate the skin unobstructed.

After the treatment a simple moisturizer with a neutral pH (pH 4.5 – pH 7) and without any essential oils, AHA’s, glycolics or retinol should be applied to replenish lost moisture and to prevent the skin becoming dry and peeling.

Sun damage can cause pigmentation and premature ageing of the skin. After the treatment it is essential to protect the skin from excessive sun exposure by applying a moisturiser with an SPF. This is especially true in the summer months and for clients that are having treatments to treat pigmentation. Failure to apply regular sun cream could cause the pigmentation to return.

Of all the non-invasive cosmetic treatments, the results of microdermabrasion are the most satisfactory.

Microdermabrasion at Aesthetica

As a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation, our microdermabrasion treatment is quick, convenient and painless, immediately restoring younger, smoother looking skin without the need for chemicals, lasers or Botox.

A single treatment at Aesthetica’s clinics, can remove up to three times the number of dead skin cells in a single session than other exfoliating treatments.

Unlike many skin rejuvenation treatments, Aesthetica’s microdermabrasion is non-invasive, so requires zero recovery time. It is often referred to as the ‘lunchtime facial’ because of the convenience and effectiveness.

At Aesthetica, the treatment settings are widely adjustable; meaning therapists are able to tailor the treatment to individual skin types and problems. Our expert therapists assess the skin type before advising on the number of treatments you will need.

Also called Chemexfoliation, Derma Peeling.

Do you wish that you could simply peel signs of aging from your skin? Dermatologists use chemical peels to do just this.

A chemical peel can diminish many signs of aging on the face as well as the hands, neck, and chest.

A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. There are three basic types of chemical peels:

Superficial or lunchtime peel: Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands.

Medium peel: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic keratosis.

Deep peel: Tricholoracetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once.

Chemical peels are used to treat a number of conditions including:

  1. -Acne scars
  2. -Aging skin
  3. -Crow's feet
  4. -Hyperpigmentation
  5. -Melasma
  6. -Scars
  7. -Sun damaged skin
  8. -Sagging skin
  9. -Wrinkles

How is it Done?

The chemical peel treatment helps to improve the appearance of your skin. During the treatment a chemical solution is applied to the skin. This chemical solution causes the skin to blister causing it to eventually peel off. The new skin after the treatment is usually smoother and less wrinkled. The chemical peel treatment can be done on the face, neck, and or hands.

The chemical peel treatment is an outpatient procedure which does not require the patient to stay overnight. The professional administering the treatment will first clean your skin and then carry on to apply one or more of the chemical solutions such as salicylic acid, lactic acid, carbolic acid etc. to small areas of your skin. This leads to the creation of controlled wounds which allows new skin to take its place. Most people experience a burning sensation during the treatment which lasts for about 5-10 minutes. To ease the pain it is advised to use a cold compress on the treated area.

This treatment provides a combination of peels which help to exfoliate, purify and enhances the brightness of your skin. The Intensive treatment also comes with the unique Wrinkle Lift which makes your skin smooth and firm. The chemicals peels used in this treatment are used for different purposes as follows:

GLYCOLIC & SALICYLIC ACID

This helps to exfoliate and purify your skin

CITRIC AND LACTIC ACID

This acid helps to whiten and lift your skin.

KOJIC ACID

This helps to correct any pigmentation or dark spots.

CHAMOMILE RECUTITA EXTRACT

This is an inflammatory and helps to reduce any inflammation caused.

Tattoo removal has been performed with various tools since the start of tattooing. While tattoos were once considered permanent, it is now possible to remove them with treatments, fully or partially.

When you get yourself inked, you love it at that time. But you may want to get rid of the same tattoo which you had got done with tremendous zest, at some point in our life.

Laser tattoo removal or permanent tattoo removal is the process of removing tattoos and other forms of body ink by using lasers on fragment particles of ink so that they can be absorbed naturally by the skin.

All types of tattoos can be removed using permanent tattoo removal process i.e. laser tattoo removal. This will include tattoos done by professionals and accidental tattoos that are caused by bruising and injury of the skin. Colored tattoos are also removed, although yellow or green tattoos pose a greater challenge when it comes to removal and subsequent permanent tattoo removal treatments may be necessary.

How is it Done?

Tattoo removal is most commonly performed using lasers that break down the ink particles in the tattoo. The broken-down ink is then fought off by the immune system, mimicking the natural fading that time or sun exposure would create. All tattoo pigments have specific light absorption spectra. A tattoo laser must be capable of emitting adequate energy within the given absorption spectrum of the pigment to provide an effective treatment. Certain tattoo pigments, such as yellows and fluorescent inks are more challenging to treat than darker blacks and blues, because they have absorption spectra that fall outside or on the edge of the emission spectra available in the tattoo removal laser. Recent pastel colored inks contain high concentrations of titanium dioxide which is highly reflective. Consequently, such inks are difficult to remove since they reflect a significant amount of the incident light energy out of the skin.

Widely considered the gold standard treatment modality to remove a tattoo, laser tattoo removal requires repeat visits. The newer Q-switched lasers are said by the National Institutes of Health to result in scarring only rarely and are usually used only after a topical anesthetic has been applied. Areas with thin skin will be more likely to scar than thicker-skinned areas. There are several types of Q-switched lasers, and each is effective at removing a different range of the color spectrum.

A mole is defined as the different type of skin lesion manifested as flesh-colored or pigmented, elevated or flat, irritable & a bumbling thing. It is also termed as Nevus which usually stands for a number of benign i.e. non-cancerous & pigmented lesion of the skin.

On the other hand, warts are small & scratchy growth, typically traced on the hands, feet, but often may found in different locations of the body. Usually warts have the appearance of uneven-solid blisters resembling cauliflowers.

Mole/Wart removal is typically done on an outpatient basis and is relatively painless.

They can be removed by:

Cutting / Excision

With this method, moles are treated with a local anesthetic and the mole is cut out along with a small area of the surrounding skin with a scalpel or surgical scissors. Some moles may have cells that have grown underneath the top layer of skin. Cutting these out may require a few stitches to close the skin, which can leave a small scar that will fade over time.

Shave Removal

Some skin moles can be shaved down with a scalpel. The area will be numbed with a local anesthetic beforehand and usually only a small pink mark will be left.

Freezing

Moles that are non-cancerous and haven’t grown to the deeper layers of skin can be frozen off using liquid nitrogen. This may leave a small blister on the skin but is a relatively simple outpatient procedure.

Laser Removal

Smaller, non-cancerous moles that don’t protrude above the surface of the skin may also be removed with a laser treatment. This treatment uses intense bursts of light radiation to break down the mole cells in the skin. This method usually takes two or three treatments to remove the mole completely. While excision and cutting are the more common and recommended methods of removing moles, laser removal can be useful for harder to reach areas, such as on the face or ears, and can be helpful for removing multiple moles at the same time.

How is it Done?

The treatment plan for each individual differs as different people have different cosmetic goals. Our experts will come up with the right treatment after discussing with you on every important aspect.

In body shaping the fat is not sucked out of your body, but the body eliminates the fat cells naturally like dead cells. Once these fat cells are eliminated, they never come back.

Each session lasts for an average 60 minutes, but this can vary depending on how big the area under treatment is. You may require more than one session to achieve the desired results.

Types of Body Shaping Treatments

Medical shaping:

Treatment involves non-invasive Lipolysis with HIFU Ultra sound and Accent non ablative radio frequency.

These high intensity ultrasound and radiofrequency waves mobilize fat cells, destroy them and facilitate their expulsion from body through lymphatic drainage.

These techniques especially give good results for facial fat reduction and recontouring the face.

Cryolipolysis:

Cryo = cold, lipo = fat, lysis = breakdown. It literally means fat breakdown through cold.

Many of us have stubborn fat we can’t seem to lose despite diet and exercise. Cryolipolysis targets and destroys only these fat cells through targeted cooling.

Fat cells are sensitive to low temperatures and get destroyed by apoptosis process after being exposed to cold probe of the machine.

The device safely targets the fat layer without affecting the overlying skin and slowly crystallizes the fat cell contents. During the following two months, the melted fat is gradually eliminated via natural metabolic processes.

The initial intense cold feeling gradually disappears because of the cold’s numbing effect.

Results are visible usually within two months.

Depending on the initial thickness of the fat pad, more than one treatment can be performed.

Because there are no needles, no injections and no drugs involved, there is no aftercare. Patients may drive home and resume all activities.

Laser Lipolysis:

Cavitation ultra sound and Cosmedico Radio Frequency combination for body shaping is the world’s most technically advanced and internationally accepted protocol for non-surgical body shaping. A series of 6 to 10 treatment sessions at interval of 15 days will give an excellent shape through lipolysis and skin firming in patients with localized fat deposit, near normal BMI and generally controlled weight. It is recommended for those who don’t qualify for the safe Lipo procedure. Aesthetica is the first to install radio frequency technology in Odisha and the first center to develop Ultra sound RF combination protocol.

Vitiligo (vit-uh-lie-go) causes the skin to lose its natural color. Patches of lighter skin appear. Some people develop a few patches. Others lose much more skin color.

Vitiligo can also affect other parts of your body. A section of hair can turn white. Some people lose color inside their mouths. Even an eye can lose some of its color.

What causes this color loss is still a mystery. We do know that vitiligo is not contagious. It is not life-threatening. But vitiligo can be life-altering. Some people develop low self-esteem. They may no longer want to hang out with friends. They can develop serious depression. Most people have vitiligo for life, so it’s important to develop coping strategies.

Signs of Vitiligo

White patches on the skin are the main sign of vitiligo. These patches are more common in areas where the skin is exposed to the sun. The patches may be on the hands, feet, arms, face, and lips. Other common areas for white patches are: The armpits and groin (where the leg meets the body)

  1. -Around the mouth

  2. -Eyes

  3. -Nostrils

  4. -Navel

  5. -Genitals

  6. -Rectal areas

  7. -People with vitiligo often have hair that turns gray early

  8. -Those with dark skin may notice a loss of color inside their mouths

How is it Treated?

Many treatments are available to help restore skin color or even out skin tone.

Some of the widely used treatments adopted at Aesthetica include –

  1. Medications

No drug can stop the process of vitiligo — the loss of pigment cells (melanocytes). But some drugs, used alone or with light therapy, can help restore some skin tone.

Creams that control inflammation. Applying a corticosteroid cream to affected skin may help return color, particularly if you start using it early in the disease. You may not see a change in your skin's color for several months.

This type of cream is effective and easy to use. But it can cause side effects, such as skin thinning or the appearance of streaks or lines on your skin.

Milder forms of the drug may be prescribed for children and for people who have large areas of discolored skin.

Medications that affect the immune system. Ointments containing tacrolimus or pimecrolimus (calcineurin inhibitors) may be effective for people with small areas of depigmentation, especially on the face and neck.

This treatment may have fewer side effects than corticosteroids and can be used with ultraviolet B (UVB) light. However, the Food and Drug Administration has warned about a possible link between these drugs and lymphoma and skin cancer.

  2. Therapies

Combining psoralen and light therapy. This treatment combines a plant-derived substance called psoralen with light therapy (photochemotherapy) to return color to the light patches. After you take psoralen by mouth or apply it to the affected skin, you're exposed to ultraviolet A (UVA), UVB light or excimer light. These approaches tend to have better results than just medication or just light. You may need to repeat treatments up to three times a week for six to 12 months.

Removing the remaining color (depigmentation). This therapy may be an option if your vitiligo is widespread and other treatments haven't worked. A depigmenting agent is applied to unaffected areas of skin. This gradually lightens it so that it blends with the discolored areas. The therapy is done once or twice a day for nine months or longer.

  3. Surgery

Surgery may be an option for you if light therapy doesn't work. Surgery can also be used with those therapies. The goal of the following techniques is to even out your skin tone by restoring color.

Skin grafting. In this procedure, your doctor removes very small sections of your normal, pigmented skin and attaches them to areas that have lost pigment. This procedure is sometimes used if you have small patches of vitiligo.

Blister grafting. In this procedure, the doctor creates blisters on your pigmented skin, usually with suction. He or she then removes the tops of the blisters and transplants them to an area of discolored skin.

Facial fillers are products such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyl apatite that rejuvenate facial skin by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions, enhancing lips and replacing soft-tissue volume loss through facial injections. With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement (squinting, chewing, and smiling) contribute to tissue breakdown of the skin.

Facial fillers are temporary to long-lasting solutions administered through a few tiny facial injections on specific areas of the face.

Various types of facial fillers are available; each is designed with one or several purposes, such as wrinkle reduction and lip augmentation. A qualified medical professional can help you determine which facial injections and what injectable fillers treatments are right for you.

Facial fillers will volumize creases and folds in the face in areas that have lost fat and collagen as we age.

Hyaluronic acid is the natural filler substance in your body. The face starts to lack volume and appears aged with deeper nasolabial folds, unaesthetic marionette lines, a deeper mentalis fold, the lips start to thin, and turning down the corners of the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm are then injected extra orally right underneath these folds to replace the volume lost which creates a younger look in the face.

Dermal fillers can be used for high lip line cases, asymmetrical lips around the mouth, lip augmentation, and completing cosmetic dentistry cases by creating a beautiful, young-looking frame around the teeth.

Some More Well Known Of The Best Dermal Fillers:

Juvederm Facial Filler: Made of a hyaluronic acid gel, Juvederm is a naturally-occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume and hydration. Juvederm is designed to temporarily correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm is made by Allergan, the same makers of Botox.

Restylane Facial Filler: A non-animal, biodegradable gel composed of hyaluronic acid, Restylane is a soft tissue dermal filler that adds volume to the skin through tiny injections; smoothing facial folds and wrinkles in areas around the mouth and eyes.

Collagen (Zyplast/ Zyderm): A soft-tissue dermal filler made from purified cow skin used to fill wrinkles, lines, and scars on the face. Collagen is a naturally-occurring protein that supports various parts of the body, including skin, tendons, and ligaments; it will eventually absorb into the body.

Sculptra: An injectable made of synthetic polylactic acid contained in microspheres, Sculptra is the first FDA-approved injectable for the restoration of lost facial volume (correction of lipoatrophy) in people with HIV infection.

Captique: Utilized for filling moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, is a soft tissue filler that adds volume to certain areas of the face; derived from non-animal-based hyaluronic acid.

Hylaform: Fills moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth, Hylaform® is a dermal filler that has been chemically modified from hyaluronic acid; designed to temporarily smooth the surface the skin.

Radiesse: A synthetic dermal filler made of calcium hydroxyapatite is utilized for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. This injectable is a longer-lasting filler because the body forms collagen around the microspheres; adding bulk to the injected areas.

In general, the results from most injectable fillers are temporary; commonly lasting from a few months to about a year. This depends on the type of facial fillers or filler injections used. For optimal results, additional treatment sessions are encouraged. A facial filler or injectable fillers treatment at Aesthetica entails a series of tiny injections under the skin’s surface – at the subdermal-dermal levels. The amount administered depends on the depth and size of the skin defect or wrinkle.

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Also known as Botulinum Toxin Type A, Botox is formed from the bacteria which cause botulism. The Botulinum toxin causes a reduction in muscle activity temporarily by blocking the nerve activity in the muscles. Botox is known to be used for the treatment of cervical dystonia and muscle spasms in the upper and lower limbs as well. It is also used in treating severe underarm sweating. Certain eye conditions which have been caused due to nerve disorders are also treated using Botox. Overactive bladder and incontinence caused due to nerve disorders like spinal cord injury etc. are also treated using it. Botox is also used in cosmetic procedures to temporarily reduce facial wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that underlie and cause wrinkles, such as:

  1. Frown lines between the eyebrows

  2. Crow's-feet, the lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes

  3. Forehead furrows

Botulinum toxin injections are also used to treat conditions that affect how the body functions. Examples include:

  1. Cervical dystonia. In this painful condition, your neck muscles contract involuntarily causing your head to twist or turn into an uncomfortable position

  2. Lazy eye. The most common cause of lazy eye is an imbalance in the muscles responsible for positioning the eye.

  3. Muscle contractures. Some neurological conditions, such as cerebral palsy, can cause your limbs to pull in toward your center. In some cases, these contracted muscles can be relaxed with botulinum toxin injections.

  4. Hyperhidrosis. In this condition, excessive sweating occurs even when the temperature isn't hot and you're not exerting yourself.

  5. Chronic migraine. If you experience migraines more than 15 days a month, botulinum toxin injections may help reduce headache frequency.

  6. Bladder dysfunction. Botulinum toxin injections can also help reduce urinary incontinence caused by an overactive bladder.

  7. Eye twitching. Botulinum toxin injections may help relieve contracture or twitching of muscles around the eye.

It is important to choose a doctor who is well experienced and certified by an official board to perform such treatments. The skill and technique of the doctor who injects the Botox decides the course and experience of the treatment. It is important to do thorough research and find a doctor who specializes in facial anatomy. It is also ideal to consult more than one doctor before availing the treatment.

Transparency with the Doctor:

It is important to be transparent with the doctor about your medical history. This will help the doctor to decide if you are an ideal candidate for the treatment and administer it safely. Before receiving the cosmetic Botox make your doctor aware of the following:

  1. Any medications, supplements, or herbs you are taking.

  2. Any history of forms of allergies.

  3. If you are suffering from any medical conditions, illnesses or diseases.

  4. If you have or intent to have any medical procedures, such as surgeries, other Botox treatment etc.

  5. If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or trying to conceive.

Aesthetica’s Botox Treatment

Aesthetica Skin Clinic uses a specialized Botox treatment for treating wrinkles and fine lines. The Services use the plasma from your own body rich in platelets to naturally rejuvenate the area of delicate skin around your eyes. This helps to reduce dark circles and fine lines around your eyes. The platelets from the plasma are known to release ‘growth factors’. These ‘growth factors’ stimulates the production of collagen which in turn gives your younger and healthier skin. This service has been approved by the FDA as the safest non-invasive service which can rejuvenate the delicate areas around your eyes making it appear fresh and healthier. This is a natural service which uses the platelets from your own body, due to which it has no real down time and minimal side effects.

With Aesthetica's Skin Polishing and Brightening service, dull and patchy skin will become a thing of the past. This service begins with Microdermabrasion that helps reverse years of damage to your skin. Crystals are then continuously poured onto your skin to gently exfoliate its uppermost superficial dead layers; stimulating cell and collagen production, making it look younger and firmer.

This process addresses various defects on the skin's surface by removing dead cells and allowing the fresher and more radiant skin to surface.

The skin cell and collagen stimulation minimizes the appearance of skin pores, making the skin look younger and firmer. The service usually lasts about 45 minutes per session. And usually requires 4 sessions for optimized results. To enhance the results, you also need a regular home care regime.

To maintain that sheen, a monthly session is recommended. The service can be used in synergy with chemical peels for better results and can also be undertaken as a part of your regular skin care regime. You may also treat this as a temporary glow and take it 2 to 3 days before any event.

As darkened, discolored skin is the inevitable presentation of a pigmentation issue, the solution must lie in systematically undoing the cumulative damage, teasing out the factors that have added up, and giving fresher, lighter skin a chance to emerge.

In the process, it also helps remove acne scars caused by melanin accumulation and further brightens the complexion. It rejuvenates the skin by restoring collagen fibers and rebuilding them, returning youthful radiance to the skin.

Fresh, bright skin where dull and tired skin used to be. Simply put, that is the treatment outcome. Age spots fade away. Your skin will look clear and even toned.

  1. Why Do I Need Skin Polishing & Brightening?

Environmental pollution harms all skin types and therefore everyone can benefit from this service. These factors cause our skin to get dull and pigmented. Aesthetica's Skin Polishing & Brightening service reverses these effects. This service can also be undertaken as a part of your regular skin care and enhancement regime. It is recommended that you be above 18 years of age to undertake this service.

  2. How Is Skin Polishing & Brightening Different From Facials?

The procedure is more beneficial than facials as it addresses a wide range of skin problems and even tones the skin with absolute safety and effectiveness. The removal of dead cells is uniform and the service remains non-invasive. It can be used in combination with chemical peels when extreme results are needed.

  3. How Long Does The Service Take?

The service usually lasts about 45 minutes per session. Hence you can even get it done during your lunchtime. At least 4 sessions are recommended to see visible results. To maintain the results, a monthly session is recommended.

  4. Is It Safe?

Yes, Aesthetica's Skin Polishing & Brightening is a safe procedure and is recommended for all skin types. At Aesthetica, as an added precaution, a crystal sensitivity check is done. Moreover, there are no side effects. Very sensitive skin may, however, become red due to the exfoliation action. This subsides within hours. A cold compress is recommended in such a rare case.

  5. Is There Any Post Care Involved?

Aesthetica's Skin Polishing & Brightening requires no post service care. You can resume normal activities immediately. However, in some cases of sensitive skin, direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided and a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 should be used regularly. Due to the exfoliation action the immediate effect can be reddening of the skin, which subsides within hours. In extra sensitive skin, the effect lasts a day. Therefore, it is not advisable to undergo Skin Polishing & Brightening on the day you have an event / occasion to attend. Ideally you should do it 2 to 3 days in advance.

Ideal body weight is the key to good health and better quality of life. Weight Loss Programs at Aesthetica give successful weight loss through a combination of a healthy balanced diet, lifestyle modifications, physical activity and support through therapies. Weight loss is the loss of total body mass, as a result of efforts to improve fitness and health, or to change appearance through slimming.

Weight loss in individuals who are overweight or obese can reduce health risks, increase fitness, and may delay the onset of diabetes. It could reduce pain and increase movement in people with osteoarthritis of the knee. Weight loss can lead to a reduction in hypertension (high blood pressure). Weight loss occurs when the body is expending more energy in work and metabolism than it is absorbing from food or other nutrients. It will then use stored reserves from fat or muscle, gradually leading to weight loss.

Body Firming is provided through the use of specialized appliances. It helps in firming the skin, strengthening, toning and building up muscles during weight loss. When it comes to the extra flab around your stomach, the accumulation of fat stretches your skin tight—like a fully- or over-inflated balloon—so when you melt away fat, your skin isn't able to snap back to where it used to be. The introduction of the body firming treatment is a dream for women who wish to take a proactive stance in the battle against cellulite. While it is common knowledge that dieting alone does not eliminate or reduce the appearance of cellulite, a healthy eating plan, a regular exercise regimen and the addition of a firming treatment may help.

At Aesthetica, machine based toning is also provided to help tone up the muscles and give proper shape to the body. In order to achieve a toned shapely body, you need to engage in toning treatment as well as shed the layer of fat covering your muscles. Indirectly, the more muscle tissue that you add through toning your muscles, the greater your basal metabolic rate (resting metabolism) will be and therefore you will be burning more total calories and fat at rest. This is more of a permanent solution to weight loss.

Radio Frequency is also ideal for the age-old problem of spot reduction. The treatment program is designed to improve body shape and reduce unwanted fat from areas such as face and neck, upper arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, calves, ankles and breasts.

As we age, so does our face. It’s a fact and there isn’t much we can do about those fine lines and wrinkles that creep up on us as we get older. With time our skin loses its collagen and elasticity which can lead to looser facial tone and an increased appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and creases as well as an undefined jaw-line. There is not much we can go about the gravitational effect on our skin, unless, you are willing to go under the knife to surgically pull back those years and say goodbye to those unwanted jowls.

Aesthetica’s Invisible Lift is a revolutionary new treatment to tackle prominent signs of ageing that results in a double lift and regenerating collagen effect which can all be done without the use of incisions or sedation. It is considered to be a technological innovation offering men and women what no treatment has ever provided in such a simple way: a redefined face, restored volume and reduced wrinkles by means of a 30-minute treatment providing a result that lasts up to 2-3 years.

This ‘lunchtime face lift’ means you can be in and out within half an hour whilst knocking off several years of your facial age. This discreet procedure means you can even go straight back to work and you don’t even have to tell your colleges what you’ve had done. This is why Aesthetica’s Facelift procedure is probably used by many celebrities who deny having surgery but look to have defied age and remain still naturally good looking without a “done” plastic appearance.

How is it Done?

Aesthetica’s Facelift Techniques involve Fine Thread Contour (FTC) therapy which is a type of thread lifting. Thread Lifting is a generic term used to describe several different techniques which can be used to lift the face in a similar way to a facelift, but without the need for surgery.

This system uses PDO (polydioxanone) threads, which have been used safely in surgery for over 15 years to close wounds.

Unlike other systems Aesthetica’s thread lifting uses thicker textured thread, which anchor in the ligaments of the muscular layer of the face. This is the same layer as is manipulated during a surgical facelift. In this technique the textured threads anchor in the ligaments within this layer allowing us to pull this layer upwards through a hole the size of a needle. This step is followed by using several finer threads more superficially. These have an immediate more subtle lifting effect, smooth wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.

The result of this technique will be an impressive initial lift with ongoing improvements over the following 6 weeks to 6 months.

Facelift at Aesthetica

We will perform an initial consultation to talk about your concerns and how best to address them, your background history and to explain the procedure in detail to you. We will also take photographs of you as a record of your appearance before treatment.

You should allow around 60 minutes for your treatment. For some areas we may apply local anaesthetic cream to numb the area first. We will mark your face to show our intended insertion points for the deeper cog threads after cleaning your skin thoroughly. We will then inject some local anaesthetic mixture in various points to numb you as thoroughly as possible. The deep threads are inserted through one needle hole on each side for each treatment area. We will complete the procedure with the finer threads which form a mesh in the areas we target.

The PDO thread lift is very different from other systems available, and enables us to treat different parts of the face and body. We can lift the lower face (jowls and marionette lines), cheeks and brows. Fine threads can be used to improve the tear trough (the groove under the eye), upper eyelids, smoker’s lines around the lips, and the neck. We can also use threads to firm and lift various areas of the body – the stomach, inner thighs and underarms for example. These treatments work very well in conjunction with Aqualyx injections or CoolSculpting.

We can also use FTC PDO threads to help treat shoulder muscle problems as they produce a profound muscular relaxation.

The PDO threads which we use dissolve slowly over the course of 6 months, leaving bands of collagen in their place.

The presence of the threads in the tissues will stimulate a direct healing response from your tissues, stimulating the fibroblast cells to produce more collagen. This technique has an extra dimension to it, whereby the threads are twisted stimulating a mechanical response similar to that produced by acupuncture. This stimulates growth factor release which will further boost collagen production and strengthening of the stabilizing skin matrix.

We will arrange follow-up around 1 week after initial treatment and again at 3 months. At the 3 month appointment we can discuss the need for any touch ups and an ongoing maintenance program.
